HARRY POTTER HISTORY MEME: three historical witches [1/3] → Merope Gaunt

Merope Riddle (née Gaunt), (c. 1907 – 31 December, 1926) was a pure-blood witch, daughter of Marvolo Gaunt, and sister of Morfin. She was a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin and a Parselmouth. Merope lived in a shack with her father and brother, who mentally and physically abused her. She grew to have an obsessive love for Tom Riddle, a handsome and wealthy Muggle. When both her father and brother were imprisoned, she bewitched and married Tom. Merope ended up dying at an orphanage, soon after giving birth to her son, whom she had named Tom Marvolo Riddle.

It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all. In which case, you fail by default.

Dawn seemed to follow midnight with indecent haste.

Favourite Marauder | Remus Lupin

Your parents gave their lives to keep you alive, Harry. A poor way to repay them—gambling their sacrifice for a bag of magic tricks.

note to self: do not go on my ow tag

“One of the most horrifying things about war is how it leaves children fatherless and motherless.” The most powerful way she could dramatize that idea, she says, was to kill a set of parents that were dear to readers. “I had no intention of killing [Lupin],” says Rowling. “But then it dawned on me he had to die.”

kiralouwhoo replied to your post: does anyone else have all these posts …

if you go to settings, then to the dashboard section, there should be an option for ‘show full size images’. if you turn that on it should go back to normal!

thanks! i still don’t like it coz i still have to scroll more but this is better thanks

does anyone else have all these posts on their dash with one image but there’s all this white space that it looks like part of a photoset that’s slow to load but actually if you click on it it’s just meant to be that one image???

Happy 35th Birthday, Hermione Jean Granger. ( September 19, 1979 )

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
